At The Bridge, our mission to transform lives and build community comes to life through the everyday efforts of staff like Anthony, a Recovery and Addictions Program Facilitator at the Youth Recovery House. Since joining the Laurier team just over a year ago, Anthony has become a steady source of encouragement and positivity for the young people he supports.
In his own words, "Every moment at the Youth Recovery House is a blessing to experience"—whether it's hearing creative replies to morning check-in questions or helping a young person navigate a tough day. His work is rooted in presence, compassion, and belief in the potential of every youth who walks through the door.
A Farewell That Stood Out
One recent experience reminded Anthony just how meaningful his role can be. A youth he had previously supported through the program returned and, this time, graduated with a sense of pride and readiness for the future.
“I was honoured to be their Keyworker,” Anthony shared. “When they left, there was a smile on their face and a tear in my eye. Seeing them overcome so much and leave stronger than they came in—that moment will stay with me.”
It's moments like these that remind him why he’s here: to walk alongside youth as they rebuild confidence, heal from challenges, and begin writing new chapters in their lives.
Building Belonging and Community
Anthony sees The Bridge’s mission lived out daily at YRH:
“We help youth navigate life by creating a supportive and understanding environment where they can heal and grow. And through that, we help them make lasting changes—not just in their own lives, but in the community they’re returning to.”
By encouraging young people to support each other and build meaningful connections, the YRH team lays the foundation for a stronger, more connected future.
To the Community
If there's one thing Anthony wants the community to know, it’s this:
“The youth in our program are the real MVPs. My job is simply to help them see that.”
Through his work, Anthony helps young people discover their worth, their strength, and their ability to thrive—reminding all of us what’s possible when care and connection come first.
