Upstream Kelowna is a prevention and early intervention program designed to support the well-being of Grade 8 students and strengthen collaboration between schools and community services. Led by BGC Okanagan, the program works to prevent school disengagement and youth homelessness by identifying challenges early—before they become a crisis.

At the core of the program is a universal, confidential screening tool, offered in participating middle schools. This tool helps uncover barriers that may affect a student’s resiliency and success. To ensure accuracy and provide meaningful support, follow-up check-ins are completed to explore results and better understand each student’s needs.

From there, students and their families are connected with wrap-around supports tailored to their unique circumstances. These services are delivered in partnership with The Bridge Youth & Family Services, arc programs, and CMHA Foundry Kelowna, working together to foster resilience and long-term success.
