Etcetera is a weekly, facilitated program where 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and their allies, ages 11 to 18, can connect, build friendships, and explore identity in a safe, welcoming space.
The name Etcetera reflects the diversity and expansiveness of youth identities, including those that go beyond what any acronym can fully capture. At its core, Etcetera is about belonging. It’s a space where youth are free to be themselves, meet supportive peers, and feel valued for who they are.
What Happens at Etcetera?
The group meets every Thursday, with youth divided into two age groups:
Each session includes snacks, fun activities, and meaningful conversation. Past activities have included tote bag painting, talent shows, button-making, movie nights, and group outings to places like the Board Game Café and Kangaroo Farm.
What makes Etcetera unique is its flexibility and youth-centered approach. Participants can join activities, talk with a facilitator, or simply enjoy being in a space where they feel safe. Food, clothing, gender-affirming gear, and transportation support are available when needed.
More Than a Program—A Place to Grow
At Etcetera, youth can:
✔ Explore identity in an inclusive, intersectional space
✔ Build confidence and access health resources
✔ Form lasting friendships
✔ Grow as leaders and support others
The program also supports caregiver connections, encourages youth leadership, and plays a role in community outreach and education.
Supported by organizational and community partners, Etcetera continues to grow as a grassroots initiative dedicated to making Kelowna a city where 2SLGBTQIA+ youth are seen, celebrated, and supported.
Because everyone deserves a space where they belong—just as they are. 💙
