Volunteer Spotlight: Siffith Chaudhaury

Volunteers play an essential role in helping The Bridge create spaces where people feel connected, supported, and valued. This month, we are proud to spotlight Siffith Chaudhaury, a dedicated volunteer with the Etcetera 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Program, who has been volunteering with The Bridge since September 2025.

For Siffith, volunteering is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves a space where they feel safe, accepted, and like they belong.

"I was inspired to volunteer with Etcetera because I know how meaningful it is for youth to have affirming spaces where they can feel seen, accepted, and unconditionally cared for," she shares. "I want to help create a space where youth feel safe and know they belong."

Finding Joy in the Small Moments

When asked about a meaningful experience, Siffith doesn't point to one big event or milestone. Instead, she reflects on the many small moments that happen each week during the program.

Whether it's laughing together, making art, sharing snacks, answering the group's opening "shape question," or simply being goofy and authentic, these moments of connection are what stand out most.

"Spending time with teenagers is a privilege," she says. "They bring so much humour, creativity, and energy to the space."

For Siffith, these everyday interactions serve as an important reminder of why programs like Etcetera matter. They create opportunities for young people to show up as themselves, build friendships, and experience genuine acceptance.

Building Belonging Through Community

Siffith sees The Bridge making a meaningful difference by continuing to show up for people in real and human ways.

Through programs like Etcetera, youth are given opportunities to connect with peers, access support, and experience a sense of belonging that can have a lasting impact on how they see themselves and their future.

"Belonging can change how someone sees themselves and their future," she explains. "I see The Bridge continuing to be an important part of building a kinder, more connected, and more inclusive community."

Her perspective reflects the broader impact of The Bridge's work: creating environments where people feel welcomed, valued, and supported as they navigate life's challenges and opportunities.

Encouraging Others to Get Involved

For those considering volunteering, Siffith believes community care begins with a willingness to show up.

"Everyone has something meaningful to offer," she says. "When people feel welcomed and understand the impact they can make, they are more likely to get involved and help build a stronger, kinder, and more connected community."

It's a reminder that volunteering doesn't require special expertise; just a commitment to contributing your time, energy, and care to others.

A Little About Siffith

Outside of volunteering, Siffith has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and works helping people build home gyms. In her free time, she enjoys training at Orangetheory Fitness, spending time outdoors, sharing good food with family and friends, and appreciating sarcasm and a good joke.

We are grateful for the compassion, enthusiasm, and dedication Siffith brings to the Etcetera program. Through volunteers like her, The Bridge continues to create spaces where young people feel safe, supported, and connected.

Thank you, Siffith, for helping strengthen community and create a sense of belonging for the youth we serve.
